Convict Notes
At Devon Assizes in March 1801, at Exeter, ” ... William Pavy [sic] for burglary ....[and others listed] also received sentence of death but were reprieved.” (Thursday 02 April 1801 , Bath Chronicle and Weekly Gazette). William Pavey sailed on “Coromandel” with six other men from the March 1801 Devon Assizes (J Redman and James Sanders also for burglary; James Grant, highway robbery; William Kennard, stealing cloth; and Josiah Richards and R Weeks for sheep stealing). Another group of convicts from the same Devon Assizes sailed later on the “Glatton” departing England in September 1802, after their Devon jail mates on "Coromandel" had already arrived in NSW. One was James Pavey, for sheep stealing, was he related to William perhaps? William Pavey does not have any other convict records in NSW. Probably died 1802, within 4 months of arrival in August: Probably the person whose death is recorded in NSW BDM indexes as "William PREVY". 622/1802 V1802622 148
