14/1/1841 Staffordshire Gazette and County Standard Staffordshire, England: Joseph Peace and Henry Collier, for stealing five duck?, the property of Thomas Payne, at Burton-upon-Trent, were sentenced to 10 years' transportation. Henry Collier was also on board Eden. Joseph Peace was listed as 21 years old on arrival. He was born at Stapenell, near Burton upon Trent. Joseph was 5'8 1/2" tall, reads and writes a little, single, protestant. 5/9/1846: Married Elizabeth Davis at Green Ponds, he was listed as 24 and Elizabeth was 34 and Free. 22/12/1851 The Tasmanian Colonist: Peace v. Peace. — This was an information at the Instance of Mrs. Peace, against her husband Joseph Peace, of Davoy-street, for aliment. The defendant said that his wife had brought men into the house and robbed him of every thing in it. "She went away of her own accord, and he declined to take her back. The defendant agreed to allow her -7s. per week. He made as a journeyman shoemaker about-1/. 5s, per week. 23/8/1854: Joseph Peace, Steerage passenger, Launceston to Melbourne per 'Black Swan'. 18/8/1857 The Argus, Melbourne: NOTICE. - I hereby CAUTION all parties not to Trust my Wife, ELIZABETH PEACE, as I will not be Responsible for any Debts she may Contract on and after this date, as we have parted by mutual consent. JOSEPH PEACE 9 aug 1857. 18/4/1863 The Argus, Melbourne: MINOR CHARGES.—Joseph Peace was charged with deserting his wife. As an order for weekly maintenance had been made on behalf of the prosecutrix by Mr. Hackett, in the District Court, she was recommended by the Bench to take her case there, and the charge was dismissed. No date of death found.
