Robert Pease was born on the 5 June 1817 in Attleborough Norfolk, England and was the third child to Peter Pease (1789 -1862) and Elizabeth Crook (1792-1868). He married Mary Ann China on 9 December 1839 in his hometown. Together they gad two children Ann and Elizabeth. Robert was tried at Norwich on the 13 March 1844 for stealing 7 1/2 Peck of wheat. His Sentence was 7 years Transportation to the Colony of Tasmania (Van Diemen's Land) to Maria Island. His Voyage Date was on the 22 Apr 1844 on the Maria Somes. Robert Pease was a Protestant who could read and write. On the 3 Feb 1850 Robert's wife Mary Ann Pease arrived in Tasmania on the "Anglia" with one of their daughters.
