Married Mary Ann Higgins (b.1832) with whom he had 5 children. Mary died Yass 1857. David remarried, Sarah McDonnell (nee Shea, b. 1837) with whom he had another 4 children. David was committed to the Gladesville Mental Asylum in his 50s and died there in 1875
