Cornish Weekly News 22/10/1847: JOHN PENALUNA, 25, was charged with stealing a pig, the property of WILLIAM HOSKING, of Sithney, miller. Mr. H. GRYLLS conducted the prosecution. The prosecutor missed the pig on the 14th of October, 1846, and next saw it at MR. TREWHELA's, farmer, in Ludgvan, on the 26th of October. JOHN TREWHELA testified that on the 15th of October, the prisoner brought him a pig and offered it for sale, saying it was his sister's, who wanted to sell it in order to get some money to enable her to go to her husband at Liverpool. Witness bought the pig for 30s. Afterwards, hearing of some bills being posted, concerning the loss of such a pig, he sent to Mr. Hosking, who came to his house with a constable, and immediately identified the pig.
