On Thursday, the following 16 Convicts left the Castle, in order to be delivered on board the Hulks lying up the river Thames, below Woolwich, James Dixon, Wm. Hardisty, John Spencer, John Midgley, James Gavins, Joseph Tillotson, John Kenworthy, Isaac Plats, Thomas Hague, Titus Kent, Wm. Parkes, James Curtis, William Wilkinson, John Brown, Charles Penny, and Charles Fowler. Yorkshire Gazette, 19 Aug 1820.

Colonial Secretary Index: PENNY, Charles. Per "Speke", 1821 1824 Sep 23 - Sentenced to Emu Plains for being an accessory to a robbery. On return of convicts tried and punished at Liverpool (Reel 6023; 4/6671 p.34) 1824 Oct 16 - On list of convicts transported to Port Macquarie per "Amity" (Reel 6019; 4/3864 pp.490-1) 1825 Apr 7 - Runaway from Port Macquarie apprehended at Wallis Plains, to be forwarded to Sydney from Newcastle (Reel 6068; 4/1812 p.35) 1825 Jul 13 - On return of prisoners tried before the Supreme Court of New South Wales (Fiche 3298; X727 p.11) Charles Penny was sent to Moreton Bay, where he died. Moreton Bay Record: 6 Feb 1827 – Charles Penny – Speke 2, -Yorkshire, 2 Aug 1820, 7 years. Trade, Smith. Colonial Conviction by the Colonial Secretary at Sydney 28 July 1825. Sent to Moreton Bay for the remainder of his sentence. Died 6 Feb 1827. 3. Penny Charles, Speke, 23, Sheffield, 5 feet 3 and a half, grey eyes, light brown hair, fair comp. from Moreton-bay. Sydney Gazette, 22 Apr 1826. However, he and three other prisoners were recaptured at Port Macquarie and sent back to Moreton Bay again. Colonial Secretary Letters : a letter from the Commandant at Port Macquarie, dated 27/2/1826 re. Prisoner escapees from Moreton Bay, lists Charles Penny. Letter dated 27/11/1826, Walsh, Penny and Lazarus returned to Moreton Bay 14 Oct 1826. Letter re 4 runaways from Moreton Bay – on the brig Mary Elizabeth. He still managed to escape from Moreton Bay :
