The following are the sentences of the prisoners in our City :—Transported for Seven Years: Samuel Parry, for stealing a five pound note and a half sovereign from Joseph Child. Gloucestershire Chronicle, 18 April 1835.

March 23.—Samuel Perry, was charged with stealing a five pound note, four sovereigns, and a half sovereign, the property of Joseph Child. appeared from the evidence of the prosecutor that the prisoner and himself slept in the same bed, at the Black Dog, in this city, on Saturday night, and that the money was safe in his waistcoat pocket when went to bed; on Sunday morning the prisoner rose some time before Prosecutor, who on getting up discovered his money gone. He saw the prisoner on going down stairs and charged him with the robbery, which he stoutly denied but on sending for an officer and searching him the sovereign and half sovereign were found in his shoe, and the five pound note secreted in the privy of the house. His defence was that he picked the money in the room on going to bed.—Fully committed. Gloucestershire Chronicle, 28 March 1835
