Commenced fitting as a Convict Transport at Deptford on the 29 March. Surgeon Superintendent [Andrew Henderson] joined on the 3rd April. Guard embarked on the 13th. Sailed on the 17th and anchored in Kingston Barbour near Dublin on the 9th May. 220 convicts embarked on the 16 May 1833 and the ship sailed from Dublin Bay for Sydney on the 4th June and arrived there on the 20 October. Originally embarked with 221 convicts, 5 Died at sea, 1 was Relanded. 11 sick on shore, The convicts were described as 220 such wretchedly debilitated creatures ... Tried at the Old Bailey, 15 April 1830. 775. JOSEPH PETTIT was indicted for stealing, on the 26th of February , 44 yards of carpet, value 35s. , the goods of Richard Cooper and James Phillips . JAMES PHILLIPS. I am in partnership with Richard Cooper - we are linen and woollen-drapers, at Charing-cross . On the 26th of February, about twelve o'clock, I saw the prisoner go out at the door, with a carpet on his shoulder - I followed, and brought him back with it; he said distress drove him to it - this is it; there are forty-four yards of it. BENJAMIN BATES . I was standing near the door, and saw the prisoner taken. GUILTY . Aged 18. - Transported for Seven Years . ------------------------ Hulk Records, HO-9-9_4 page 46/54.
