7/9/1827 Chester Chronicle Cheshire, England: Assize Intelligence. JAMES PHILLIPS, 25, charged with breaking and entering the dwelling-house of Enoch Goodwin, at Sutton, on the 7th of May, and stealing a quantity of wearing apparel, and six shillings in money.__Death Recorded. James Phillips was listed as 27 years old on arrival. Native Place: Ashbourne, Stafford. Goal Report: 2nd sentence, once for housebreaking, 7 years at Chatham in the Dolphin, served 4 years, then assault, served 5 weeks at Knutsford. Occupation: Kitchen Gardener. James was 5'8¾" tall, brown hair, thin straggling whiskers, dark grey eyes, deep pockmark centre of forehead, 3 flesh moles in front of throat, scar on right elbow long scar on flesh part outside of left arm, deep pockmark above left wrist, hair mole on left cheek, single. Brother: A Tailor, Edward Phillips at Macclesfield. "I worked last for Mr. Breakwater a Contractor in canal making, I was last working at Macclesfield canal navigating. 1830-1835 Musters: Assigned to Mr. Stanfield. Sept.1836: TOL 9/9/1840: CP 29/3/1845: Recommended for a CP for the Aust. Colonies. 15/1/1846: CP Extended.
