IN VDL: 31 July, 1852: On arrival, Thomas Pillans was listed as convict #26000, 50 years old (when convicted), a weaver, Presbyterian, able to read and write and sentenced to 10 years' transportation (https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON33-1-108$init=CON33-1-108p218). He had been convicted at Glasgow, details as below: 1. Precognition: (National Records of Scotland; Reference AD14/47/357) Title Precognition against Thomas Pillans for the crime of theft by housebreaking [into the home of Mrs Eddie, Lanark], habit and repute, and previous conviction Dates 1847 Related record JC26/1847/348 Accused Thomas Pillans, weaver, Address: Douglas, Lanarkshire. -- 2. Trial: 26 April, 1847: (National Records of Scotland; Reference JC26/1847/348) Title Trial papers relating to Thomas Pillans for the crime of theft by housebreaking, habit and repute, and previous conviction.
