John Pine was 27 by the time he got to VDL. He had spent some time in NI. Transported for manslaughter, along with William Calvert, John stated; I was drunk at the time, a mob had formed and I struck him with a stone, he lived for a few hours. John was born in Deptford, Kent, was single, 5'7" tall, grey eyes, brown hair, could read and write a little. 17/10/1848: TOL 28/5/1850: Cut his throat at Hobart.
