19/4/1839 Essex Standard Essex, England: John Girkin, 23, labourer, was convicted of having stolen a lamb from G. Jackson, jun., at Bradwell, and John Pinner, a labourer, of feloniously receiving the same.— Girkin, 10 years' transportation, and Pinner, who had been before convicted of the same offence, transportation for life. John Girkin arrived NSW per Barossa 1839. John Pinner was listed as 29 years old on arrival in NSW - but according to the death notice in the newspaper he was born in 1804. He was 5'3½" tall, dark sallow complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, red speck on right eye, scar over left eyebrow, eyebrows meeting, small mole on right collar bone, blue dot back of right hand, scar inside left leg. John was married with 1 female and 1 male children. Native place: Essex. 19/9/1846: TOL Cassilis 16/9/1848: John Pinner was a shepherd on Mr. E. Hamilton's station, called Road Station. Had clothing stolen. 3/7/1852: CP 1858: Married Mary King Murrurundi. No children listed. 29/10/1879 The Singleton Argus, NSW: Selected 240 acres in the Districk of Murrurundi. 21/8/1891: John Pinner died at Gunnedah. 12/9/1891 Maitland Mercury, NSW: It is our painful duty to chronicle the death of a very old and respected resident of Liverpool Plains' in the person of Mr. John Pinner, who expired on the 21st August, at the residence of Mr. E. S. Holmes, at the advanced age of 87 years., The deceased came to the colony in the year 1839, and he was for a number of years in the employment of the Collaroy Co. For the last 27 years he had been in the employ of Mr. E. S. Holmes, who always found him a faithful servant.
