Family connections for Edward (Piper) are: PIPER ??? (Piper) & ??? (???) produced at least 2children: 1.Edward (Piper) was born about 1766. He married Dulcibella (Goodwin her first marriage) in 1792 in London. He was tried w/his brother Francis for stealing, on 17 11 1800, 800lb flax of Hugh (Atkins) at Old Bailey on 3 12 1800, sentenced to 7years, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict with his family on 14 12 1801 after a voyage of 6months on Fleet ship MINORCA; he was Protestant. He is recorded in 1805/6 with Ticket of Leave self employed with his family. Baxter, Carol; Muster of New South Wales 1805-1806: [Ref A3420] Edward Piper, Minorca, P TL Self Employed. [Ref A3571] Dulcibella Piper, Came Free, Minorca, with Edward Piper. [Ref C0968] Dulcibella Piper, Married in England, 2 male and 1 female children (legitimate). also Edwards brother.... [Ref [A3438] Frances Piper, Minorca, P TL, Richards, Hawkesbury. Edward died in 1809.

Edward was married to Dulcibella Goodwin, in 1792, well before he was tried. The couple had 3 children when he was tried. Dulcibella and the children also came on "Minorca" to the colony and the couple had at least 1 more child in NSW.

PART Transcript of Trial of Edward and Francis Piper (brothers) at the Old Bailey 3rd December 1800. (transcript 18001203-33).... FRANCIS PIPER and EDWARD PIPER were indicted for feloniously stealing, on the 17th of November, eight hundred pounds weight of flax, value 35l. the property of Hugh Atkins. (## There is then a long and quite involved case about the two brothers stealing a huge amount of flax from a lighter as it came ashore from the ship Minerva. This transcript is well worth the read - Old Bailey, online database.) The prisoners did not say any thing in their defence, but called five witnesses, who gave them a good character. Francis Piper, GUILTY , aged 30. Edward Piper , GUILTY , aged 35. Transported for seven years . Second Middlesex Jury, before Mr. Justice Grose.
