Convict Notes




Arrived 9 February 1838 as a convict on the "Emma Eugenia". Indent No. 138, Age22, Read and Write, Protestant, Single. He was sentenced at Somerset Assizes on1st April 1837 for life for stealing hay and 10 months for a previous conviction. His physical description was dark, ruddy and freckled. His hair was dark brown and had grey eyes and eyebrows meeting. He had a small diagonal scar on the right side of his upper lip, two small moles on the right side of his neck and two of the same on his back. Scar on palm of right hand, near third finger. He was 5' 5 3/4". He received his Ticket of Leave (No. 46/423) on 7th March 1846 and was allowed to remain in the Raymond Terrace district on the recommendation of the Raymond Terrace bench. Dated 20 November 1845.
