He was tried for stealing peppermint at Bristol Gloucestershire Quarter Sessions, sentenced to 7years, held at Newgate prison & hulks in Portsmouth & arrived in NSW as a convict on 7 9 1815 after a voyage of 5months on BARING; he was sent to Windsor for distribution. He married with permission Elizabeth Ann (Pope sic her second marriage) on 30 10 1826 at Christ Church Castlereagh. He was Free by Servitude by 1827. He was recorded in 1828 as a bricklayer. He is recorded in 1828 as tenant of 5acres at Evan. He is recorded in 1830 as a labourer. On Thursday morning the following convicts left Newgate for the hulks in Portsmouth harbour, viz.-- James Smith. Henry Goodall. Charles Tandy, Thos James, William Moore, Thomas Collings, George Carter, William Hawkins, Henry Givens, Joseph Aides. T. Player, Wm. Henley, Edward Tryait, William .oiel. John Davis, Thos. Prosser, Jeremiah O’Brien and Ham Morgan. Bristol Times, 27 Aug 1814.




At an adjournment of the quarter-sessions for this city and county on Monday last, the following prisoners received their sentences, viz. Joseph Alden, for stealing hats, and Thos. Player, stealing peppermint, seven years transportation; Bristol Times, 5 Feb 1814.

Thomas married Elizabeth Ann Rope on 30 October 1826, at Castlereagh. Elizabeth Ann was teh daughter of Anthony Rope (First Fleet Convict, Alexander 1788) and Elizabeth Pulley (First Fleet Convict, Prince of Wales, 1788). Thomas and Elizabeth Ann had 4 children, William, Sarah, Thomas and Edward.
