Originally from County Limerick, Ireland, he was the paymaster clerk for the 62 Regiment stationed in Calcutta, India. He forged an order for 550 rupees on the Bank of Bengal. He was convicted on 3 Jul 1847 at Fort William, West Bengal, India.
