James Pollock was listed as 20 years old on arrival. Place of Birth: Near Glasgow. James was single, 5'0½" tall, fair complexion, brown hair, no whiskers, dark grey eyes, small scar on left elbow, several moles on neck. 1833-35 Musters: Assigned to Mr. H. Sherwin.


1833: On arrival in VDL, James Pollock was listed as 20, single and a carter from Glasgow. He said he had been transported for stealing (five) shirts and had previously been acquitted on a charge of stealing money. His accomplice James Thomson who was also sentenced to transportation for 7 years had been sent to VDL, per Isabella (1833). 1838, 1 December: His Conduct Record lists a sentence of an extra 12 months for absconding but this does not appear to be the end result because he received a Free Certificate in 1840, No.90 (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON31-1-35$init=CON31-1-35p133).


1832, 17 October: James Pollock, 19, was received aboard the Ganymede prison hulk. he was sent from there on 24 October for transportation (see UK, Prison Hulk Registers and Letter Books, 1802-1849).
