William PROTHERO (corrupted to Prothers and Brothers) also k/a Pope was convicted at Radnor, Wales on 24 Aug 1829 for stealing a watch. Previously convicted for stealing a jacket and also for poaching. 14 yr Transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Manlius' arriving 12 Aug 1830. Aged 32yrs; married man - wife Mary at Lingdon, Hereford; ploughman. Native Place: Lingdon, Hereford. Work assignments in the Colony of VDL. Several notes of minor misconduct. Ticket of Leave granted. Free Certificate 1843 no. 630.
