Family connections for Samuel (Porter) are: PORTER Samuel (Porter) was born on 6 9 1757. He was tried for theft at Nottingham town Quarter Sessions Nottinghamshire, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 14 2 1792 after a voyage of 8months on PITT; much fever & attempts to escape from the ship resulted in deaths of convicts. He enlisted in NSW Corps on 17 6 1794 in Sydney as a private. He was issued his Conditional Pardon on 30 9 1794. He was detached to (Abbott)s company in 1798. On 18 11 1804 he was raised to Corporal. He was discharged on 25 11 1806 as unfit for service. He died on 25 5 1813 age55. [These details taken from this Website; where mention is made of a maariage to Mary (Toone-Giles)-this marriage is not shown in Smees records] Mary (Giles SURPRISE 1794) is shown to have married Samuel (Porter BODDINGTONS 1793) who was also a soldier.
