Samuel POTTER, was charged with buying 20 volumes of printed books, five sermon cases, and a considerable quantity of medicine, which he has confessed he knew to be stolen, from Thomas Forster. (Thomas Forster not found as a convict). Samuel was tried and convicted with his wife – after her conviction Sarah lodged a petition for mitigation of sentence – this was successful and she remained in England to care for their child, aged 11. No other marriage or children found for Samuel in NSW. 1806 Muster: Listed as a ‘bellman’ (common name for a town crier). 6/8/1811: Samuel died aged 73, he was Free by Servitude and was buried at St Phillips, Sydney.
