Charge of Manslaughter. —On Friday night, Samuel Power was apprehended in Gloucester, and conveyed to Evesham, where was examined yesterday, on a charge of manslaughter. Some  months ago. Power and his wife were travelling through Evesham, and during a quarrel at lodging house, he is charged with having inflicted a wound to her head, which caused her death. An inquest was held the body, when a verdict of manslaughter was given against the husband, who remained at large until taken at Gloucester. Worcester Journal, 3 Jan 1828. Samuel Power, who is in custody at Evesham, on a charge manslaughter, in killing bis wife, will be tried at the Borough Sessions. Worcester Journal, 17 Jan 1828.  Evesham .Sessions.—At these Sessions, Samuel Power, charged with manslaughter in having killed his wife, was, after a patient investigation of the circumstances, found guilty. As the case was aggravated, the Court sentenced him to transportation for life. The prisoner previously bore a very bad character. The deceased and her husband were travelling through Evesham, and during a quarrel between them at lodging-house, Power stuck a pair of scissors into her eye, by which the brain was injured, and death ensued. The deceased’s father resides in this city.    Worcester Journal, 14 Feb 1828 ----------------------------------- National Archives. Hulk Records. Woolwich Hulks, Justitia.
