Irish Convict Database, by Peter Mayberry. James Prendergast, alias Pendergast, age 25. Per William Jardine (1) 1838, Tried at Limerick 1837, Life, Manslaughter, Single Labourer, DOB- 1813. Native of Limerick Co. -------------------------------------------------- Eighteen months after his arrival in New South Wales, James was convicted at Berrima, of armed robbery and sentenced to transportation for fifteen years. He was transpored to VDL to a penal settlement. He was sent to Norfolk Island per Wanderer. -------------------------------------------------- HIGHWAY ROBBERY. James Prendergast and John McGuire pleaded guilty to a charge of highway robbery on the person of John Dalton, at Norton, in March last. The prisoners were remanded for sentence. The Examiner, 5 Sep 1845. 11. James Pendergast, bond, committed April 9, for robbery with fire-arms ; transportation for fifteen years. I had been out 18 months Mr Dalton, Yass district, tobacco and tea and sugar was taken. His record lists punishments given, his eventual T of Leave,28/12/52. Conditional pardon - 11 Dec 1855.
