Assize Intelligence. March 1. JOHN PRICE alias JOHN EALES, aged 26, was placed at the bar, charged with the wilful murder of William Holmes, by striking the deceased a blow on the head with a gun, which caused his death Westmorland Gazette, 9 March 1833., 2 March 1833. JOHN PRICE, aged 26, a lead miner and poacher, charged with the murder of Wm. Holmes, a watcher of the Bishop of Durham’s game preserves in the parish of Stanhope, found guilty of manslaughter, and sentenced to be transported for life. Durham Chronicle, 8 Mar 1833.
