James Priest was 29 years old on arrival in WA and was transported for “Robbery in the company of others at Birmingham. Previous convictions: 28/3/1843:Warwick -age 21.- Acquited. 8/3/1844: Warwick-sentenced to 6mths imprisonment. 27/3/1849: Warwick-sentenced to 7yrs. Served two years in Portland Prison in Dorset, before being transported 14/3/1851 Fremantle Prison, Western Australia. James was the son of William Priest and Jane Pye. James was 5’3 ¼” tall, dark brown hair, blue eyes, oval face, fresh complexion, stout. Small pox marked, mark on left hand, illiterate. Married to Mary ?? and had 1 son, William. 28/6/1851: TOL 30/9/1853: CP 1/5/1859: Married Anne Houlahan (B1827-D23/6/1909, buried at York, WA) – 10 children. Anne arrived with her family in WA in 1855, from County Clare, Ireland. 4/8/1894: (According to his headstone at York Cemetery, WA) died aged 76.
