Family connections for Thomas (Prosser) are: PROSSER On this Website 2of the Thomas (Prosser)s could have married Ann (Biggers)-most likely the arrival on MINERVA. .. A. Thomas (Prosser) was born about 1779 & became a labourer. He was tried at Brecon Wales in 1803, sentenced to Life & arrived in NSW as a convict on 27 7 1807 after a voyage of 6months on DUKE OF PORTLAND. He married Ann (Biggers her first marriage) on 21 12 1812 at St Matthews CofE Windsor. He was issued his Cerificate of Freedom/Ticket of Leave on 21 6 1814 for Parramatta; he was a labourer 5'11" dark complexion black to grey hair hazel eyes. Noted a Thomas (Prosser) is recorded as executed by hanging for murder of a Thomas (Roberts) in 1815-date of hanging not shown in Smees records. It may be who is recorded, posthumously, in 1827 as a farmer.>>> [Some details taken from this Website] >>>a Thomas (Prosser) is recorded as marrying Ann (Biggers age16 her first marriage) on 21 12 1812 at St Matthews CofE Windsor. Ann (Biggers) was born in 1796 & baptised on 13 10 1796 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. She married secondly, with consent of her parents, George (Young) perhaps a farmer on 15 10 1827, on the same day as baptism of her daughter Elizabeth at St Johns CofE Wilberforce. She was recorded in 1828 as Protestant. She produced 2known children in her lifetime. Details of Ann (Biggers) family are given ABOVE. If true, the death shown here precludes him from marrying Ann (Biggers). .. .. B. The other Thomas (Prosser) was born about 1774 & became a weaver/cotton & linen printer. He was tried as an Irish rebel at Cork co. Ireland, sentenced to Life & arrived in NSW as a convict on 11 1 1800 after a voyage of 4.5months on MINERVA. He made attempts to escape, including attempting to stow away on board an American whaler in February 1801. In 1801 he was listed as emancipated salt boiler. In May 1802 he was shipped to Norfolk Island on HMS PORPOISE following a rumoured Irish insurrection (Ref:'People...' shows him arriving in 1801) & was still there in 1805. In 1806 he was in Sydney living on 15acres of leased land with Frances (Allen her first relationship). [These details taken from this Website] Frances (Allen) was tried at Warwick Assizes, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 1 4 1806 after a voyage of 9.5months on WILLIAM PITT. She married secondly Theodore (Walker) mariner on 2 7 1810 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. [These details taken from this Website] .. >>>Thomas (Prosser) again attempted to escape in January 1807 with 6others in a stolen 18foot open boat, intending to board the Harrington which was about to sail to Madras, unsuccessfully; he was tried but not convicted-prompting the Governor to retry him, resulting in him being sentenced to 200lashes and 3years hard labour. It seems that his sentence was served out in Port Dalrymple in Tasmania; transported there on LUCY. Now a Thomas (Prosser) is recorded as marrying Ann (Biggers age16 her first marriage) on 21 12 1812 at St Matthews CofE Windsor.>>> >>>a Thomas (Prosser-shown to be the one arriving on DUKE OF PORTLAND 1807) is recorded as marrying Ann (Biggers age16 her first marriage) on 21 12 1812 at St Matthews CofE Windsor.>>> Ann (Biggers) was born in 1796 & baptised on 13 10 1796 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. She was recorded in October 1814 with her daughter at Windsor. In 1819 she intended to travel with a child to Batavia-to join her husband?. She married secondly, with consent of her parents, George (Young) on 15 10 1827 perhaps a farmer, on the same day as baptism of daughter Elizabeth at St Johns CofE Wilberforce. She was recorded in 1828 as Protestant. She died, possibly in 1831 age about35, at the Benevolent Asylum mother of 2known children. Details of Ann (Biggers) family are given in entry for Thomas (Biggers BODDINGTONS 1793) on this Website. Ann (Biggers) & Thomas (Prosser/Prosson/Rosson) produced 2children: 1.Elizabeth (Prosser/Prosson/Rosson) was born on 24 7 1814 at Pitt Town. She was recorded in October 1814 with her mother at Windsor. She was baptised on 15 10 1827 on same day as her mothers marriage at St Johns CofE Wilberforce. She died on 7 12 1855 age41. 2.John (Prosser) was born in November 1815. He was put into a Male Orphan School in November 1822 and was taken on as an apprentice on a whaling ship. In 1836 he claimed his inheritance of land in Macdonald Valley (NSW?); which was not finally granted until 1843. .. >>>Thomas (Prosser), then, seems to have been sent to Port Dalrymple Van Diemens Land (Tasmania) after October 1815, & seems to have been in Tasmania when he had a relationship which provided a child:>>> 1.Thomas (Prosser) was born about 1815 perhaps in Tasmania. He married Sarah (Jones) on 28 4 1845 at St Georges (Anglican?) Hobart. .. >>>Thomas (Prosser) returned to Sydney & attempted to escape again, as a free man of course, by stowing away on SURREY bound for India to escape his creditors; his wife intended to join him there in 1819. On 21 3 1817 he is recorded as being transferred to NAUTILUS at Batavia. In June 1811 he was in Sydney again, with his Ticket of Leave. In December 1811 he was tried with illegally landing a 60gallon carton of spirits, for which he appears to have only sufferred confiscation of the spirits. He was issued his Absolute Pardon on 29 2 1812 & took up residence in the Windsor area. On 23 5 1812 he was appointed an officer and bailiff. On 6 7 1814 he was to be granted land, which seems to have been located in Port Dalrymple Tasmania. In about January 1815 he was appointed as William (Gore)s (Provost Marshall) officer at Windsor. In September 1815 he was a tenant at a public house at 6 Kent St Sydney & then apparantly went into hiding. He, the person from MINERVA, married Elizabeth (Harloss) on 18 1 1819 at St Johns Launceston. He may have been recorded in 1827 as a farmer. He died before 1843 in Batavia. Elizabeth (Harloss) was born about 1787. an Elizabeth (Harloss) does not have an entry on this Website as yet, but Elizabeth (Harrop) does: Elizabeth (Harrop) was tried at Lancaster Quarter Sessions, sentenced to 7years & arrived in Van Diemens Land (Tasmania) as a convict about 7 9 1818 after a voyage of 3.5months on MARIA. [These details taken from this Website] [Noted a Margarette (Prosser) is recorded as born to Thomas (Prosser) & Winifred/Vinerford (McAnally) on 24 6 1818 & baptised on 16 4 1820 at St Johns Launceston Tasmania] References: Craig James Smee 'Births and Baptisms Marriages and Defacto Relationships Deaths and Burials New South Wales 1788-1830' ..a complete listing from church & other records in the early colony.
