Eliza PROTHEROE was convicted at Middlesex, London on 14 Jan 1830 for stealing from the person. Life sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Mellish' arriving 23 Sept 1830. Married woman, 2 children. Van Diemen's Land: workplace assignments 9 May 1831 at Capt. Bateman's - being drunk and insolent to her Mistress. 6 days in cells, on bread & water. Further records of misconduct. 21 Dec 1831: Application for permission to marry - to Isaac Prail (to whom she had been assigned). Approved. 26 March 1832: Married to Wm Isaac Prail (free) at Hobart. Eliza, widow, convict per Mellish. (ref. 36/1/2 no. 1816) 3 Feb 1841: Conditional Pardon approved. No. 2887. 1845: Pardoned - in Australian colonies, not including Europe.
