Tipperary. - On Saturday, Thomas Purcell was indicted for the murder of John Quinlan at Ardmayle. He was found guilty of manslaughter and sentenced to be transported for life." Clonmel Advertiser, 29 July 1836 John Purcell was transported very quickly after his trial - departed Cork on 27 August 183. He arrived in Sydney on the "Earl Grey" on the last day of 1836.
