Richard PYE was convicted at Manchester, England on 19 Oct 1846 for stealing nails. 2nd conviction. 7 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Cornwall', departing 28 Feb 1851, arriving 11 June 1851. Single man; aged 40 yrs; Church of England; can read & write a little; a fitter. Native place of birth: Manchester, England. Colony of VDL: Assignments of work service. 1851 at Hobart, Cascades south Hobart. 7 Sept 1852: Ticket of Leave granted. 5 April 1854: Free Certificate issued. 7 March 1861: Charged with Larceny, at Hobart. 6 mths imprisonment, with hard labour. 11 Jan 1867: Charged with being idle & disorderly, at Hobart. 2 mths hard labour.
