National Archives of Scotland: 1851: Precognition against George Black Pyott for the crime of wilful fire-raising, or attempt to commit wilful fire-raising at St. Anthony's Court, St Anthony's Street, Leith George Black Pyott, tea, spice and provision merchant, Address: St Anthony's Court, Leith 16/6/1851: George Black Pyott, Verdict: Guilty, Verdict Comments: Guilty - wilful fire raising, recommendation for leniency, Sentence: Transportation - 14 years. George was 30 years old on arrival and was 5’3 ¾” tall, brown hair, blue eyes, fresh complexion, stout, single. 25/4/1854: George died, was not listed on the WA BDM and found no account of his death.
