4th Jane 1822 James was assigned as a servant to Edward Roach. 19th September 1823 James was assigned to James Dempsey of Kent St, Sydney. On James COF it shows he was 5 feet 5 3/4 inches, fair and pockmarked complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes. 20th December 1825: James aged 30 came free was given permission to marry Catherine Prendergast (Almorah 3 1824) aged 25 came bonded. 26th April 1826: Married at St Mary's, Sydney, NSW, by Rev H. Cartwright, Liverpool and S Marsden Parramatta. 5 children - listed as Quigg. 1832 Book 2, Vol 1 of convict history by McClelland shows James Quigg, Michael Quigg born 1826/7 as pioneers of Burragorang Valley, NSW. 5th January 1860: James died in the valley. Catherine died 11th November 1869.
