Louisa, Surgeon’s Journal. ADM 101/45/6/11827 Folios 19-21: case no 11, Sarah Radford, aged 19, convict, taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, hysteritis (obstipation); put on sick list 14 October 1827, discharged 21 October 1827 cured. In the latter part of the voyage this patient experienced a similar attack which was removed by strong cathartics.

Radford Sarah Louisa 1827 December 1827 - AO NSW Convict Indent Fiche No. 668: Age 20. Reads and writes. House servant from Devonshire. Tried at Exeter 27 March 1827 and sentenced to transportation for life for stealing notes. 5ft 3in, fresh fair complexion. Dark brown hair, dark brown eyes, Good looking ingenuous countenance. Assigned to Frederick A. Hely on arrival. 1829: Application to marry: Radford Sarah Louisa 1827 Sydney - application to marry Thomas Ryan 'Ann & Amelia' 1830: Married Thomas Ryan at St Mary's, Sydney (Catholic) - 1832 son James Ryan born. 1833: TOL Sydney. 1838: Application to marry John Broom per 'Princess Royal' 1838: Married at Scots Church, Sydney - 2 children listed on the NSW BDM George 1845 and Samuel 1849. (Sarah listed as RETFORD on the NSW BDM). ** On John Broom’s Certificate of Freedom which was granted on 16/1/1829 it states “cleared out on the ship “Harmony” for Calfornia on the 18th January 1850”. Another notation states “Cleared out on “Marianne ****” for H B Town on 17/4/1841” - Presumably Hobart Town. There is a death listed for a Sarah Broom on the NSW BDM in 1858.
