Ann and James are my paternal 3 x Great Grandparents. Ann was a Cascade Girl at Cascade Female Factory VDL, she was assigned to her husband James Murfett who was also a convict arriving VDL Hobart (21-Nov-1829) per the Thames. James was also a Police Constable whilst still in servitude but both Ann and James received TOL and pardons later going on to marry and have many children, James and Ann moved to Geelong via the immigrant Scheme the later to Portland for a short time then around 1854/55 moving to Ballarat where they settled until death.. Their many children and many many descendants still in Ballarat today, Victoria, Melbourne and across the globe. Ann originating from Midlothian Scotland and James from Cambridgeshire England. Married James Murfitt(b1810-d1894) on the 18/06/1832 in Hobart Tasmania. James came from Cambridgeshire, England his DEATH 20/05/1894 • Ballarat, Victoria, Australia James was also a convict sentenced to life but was commuted to 14 yrs Van Diemans Land.. they moved to Geelong Victoria first between 1846-1849 and then onto Ballarat between 1850/1854 where he lived with Ann and had 11 children. Both Ann and James lived and died in Ballarat Victoria.
