Alfred married Maria Johnson, who was free, and they had 6 children,
My previous contribution stated that Alfred Rankmore married Maria Johnson (convict). However I have found that Maria was 'Free' when she married. (Memorials for Marriage book page 168, No. 904-Permission to marry) I have checked 4 likely Maria Johnson convicts, but dates etc. don't fit. I thought she had arrived on 'Hector' 1835, but she was still a convict under supervision at New Town Rd. when our Maria was married and about to give birth at Campbell Town. Need proper citation if she had been/was a convict.
