War Office Records: Register of General Courts Martial. Priv. Wm Ransom, 34th Foot Regt, tried at Portalegre, 27 Feb 1812. Proceedings laid before the Regent, 18 April 1812. Offence: Desertion, Sentence, Transportation as a Felon for 14 years. Priv. Samuel Powell, 3rd Foot Regt, was also tried for the same offence on the same date. Both arrived per Ship Earl Spencer.
