Simon Raven arrived per 'Matilda' 1791. Ipswich Journal Suffolk, England 31 Jan 1789: Simon Raven, of Denton, carpenter, for robbing the shop of Mrs. Bidwell, of stockings, caps, &c. This day, a detainer was lodged against the above S. Raven, for a burglary in the dwelling-house of the Rev. Mr. Francis of Ditchingham. 16/10/1796: Simon Raven was buried at the Old Sydney Burial Ground. Fort Denison, Sydney Harbour: Francis Morgan, who arrived in the colony in 1793 on the Sugar Cane from Ireland. He had been tried for the murder of a man at Glassneven in Co Dublin, and was caught wearing the murdered man’s watch. Convicted, his sentence was commuted to transportation for life. After his arrival in Sydney, he was again charged with murder, after bashing a man named Simon Raven to death on the north side of the harbour on 18 October 1796. Francis Morgan was hung on the 30/11/1796.
