Stephen Addison - Commander Michael Goodsire - Surgeon Superintendent [His wife was a passenger] 1842 - The Waterloo voyage of 1842 was wrecked on 28/8/1842. 189 people drowned, these being 143 convicts, 15 men of the 99th Regiment, together with 17 wives and children, the boatswain Mr. Chiverton, the sailmaker, the carpenter and 11 of the crew. Convicts were then received in Cape Town Prison from the wreck of the Waterloo, 2nd September 1842. They then completed their voyage to VDL per “Cape Packet” which arrived on 23/11/1842.

The Convict Indentures state that James Reardon was 21 years old. He could read and write: religion Roman Catholic; status single and a native of County Tipperary. He was a farm servant. James was convicted of unlawful oath at Tipperary on 4 August 1835 and sentenced to 7 years. He had no prior convictions. Physical attributes: height 5 feet 8 inches; complexion fair ruddy and freckled; hair light sandy brown and eyes hazel. Transport number 151. Prisoner number 36-1954. Please note that there is no crime code for Unlawful oaths. NSW 1837 state that James Reardon was assigned to I) Hyde Park Barracks and ii) to Mr William Jackson, Gundaroo, NSW. Gundaroo is a small village located not far from Canberra and Queanbeyan. Received ticket of leave on 8 October 1840 (number 40/2210) in the District of Queanbeyan.
