Worcester. —Among eleven persons, against whom sentence Death was recorded these assizes, was James Redding, acquitted the last assizes on a charge of stealing a duck; the judge being of opinion that duck meant a live duck. Evidence was that the prisoner killed the duck before he stole it.—[This was the case that elicited that equally witty and sensible bon mot of Mr. Fulliott—that a duck’s a duck whether alive or dead, and who maintained the contrary was a goose.. Chester Courant, 25 March 1828. Worcester Assizes, March 10. ——James Redding, for breaking into the house of John Milton, at Croome D’Abbot, and stealing 25 sovereigns and gold brooch. —Death recorded.
