WEXFORD ASSIZES. Monday the Assizes for the County of Wexford commenced. … John Redmond was indicted for stealing two sheep, the property of Philip Redmond. Thomas Malone deposed having bought 2 sheep from the prisoner, which were afterwards identified by the prosecutor as those which had been stolen from him. The Learned Judge cautioned this witness not, in future, to buy sheep from any person he did not know. Malone— And I, Lord, to ask every man from buy sheep did steal it ? Why if I was to go fair and ask such question that, there is not stick the fair but would head”—(Great laughter.} The prisoner was found Guilty and sentenced to be transported.
