Almorah 2. Yesterday arrived from Ireland,- the ship Almorah; Captain Winter. She sailed from the Cove of Cork the 22d of August last, and brings 160 male prisoners, all in good health. Surgeon Superintendent, Dr. Alexander, R. N. The guard consists of a party of 30 men belonging to the 1st Regiment of Foot (Royals), under orders of Ensign Bruce. Sydney Gazette, 23 Dec 1820. Almorah 3. On Friday last, arrrived from Ireland, with 108 female prisoners, the ship Almorah, Captain Boyd. She sailed from Cork the 6th of April; reached no where: and, independent of the female prisoners, brings 15 free women, and 50 children. One prisoner, and one child, died on the passage. Dr. Price, R. N. is the Surgeon Superintendent. Sydney Gazette, 26 Aug 1824.

Margaret Reeves was aged 60 when convicted at Limerick in 1823 and transported as a convict on "Almorah" for seven years to NSW. She was already quite old at age 60. Her crime was sheep stealing: Limerick Chronicle 15th March 1823 "City Criminal Court - Friday 14th March "Patrick Molony, Mary Ryan, and Margaret Reeves for stealing sheep near Roxburgh, Guilty. to be transported for seven years." Mary Ryan was aged 40 years and was transported with Margaret on "Almorah", she married Thomas Hurley in 1825. Margaret's certificate of Freedom was issued on 22 December 1830, no 30/897. it said she was: *. Servant. * Year of birth - 1764 -Said to be aged 66 * height 5ft 7", Ruddy complexion brown hair, hazel eyes. Her height made her very tall for the times.
