Ellen Regan was convicted of arson - setting fire to straw - at Co. Cork, Ireland on 15 July 1850. 10yr sentence. (Previous offences). Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the 'Blackfrair' arriving 29 May 1851. Single, country servant, aged 20yrs, 5', Roman Catholic. Native place - Co. Cork Father - James Brothers - Jeramiah, John & Denis Sisters - Mary & Johannah Assignments in Colony. Several notes of misconduct and punishments. Delivered of an illegitimate male child 08/11/1856. (Orphanage records show: Henry Regan admitted aged 1yr 7mths on 14/4/1858, discharged 05/5/1858 to mother at Brickfields. Readmitted 23/06/1858, died 04/11/1858 of whooping cough. (Ref.
