Margaret Reid was transported on the Margaret, departing 24th Jan 1837 and arriving 30th May 1837 with 39 passengers.
Built 1829 at Chepstow. 365 tons. Female prisoners were transported to New South Wales on the 'Margaret' in 1837, 1839 and 1840. The 'Margaret' was the last convict ship to transport female prisoners to New South Wales. Another voyage to Van Diemen's Land in 1843. The 1840 sailing also carried 17 free female passengers and one male. The registers of persons is not yet complete on this web site, so please note this if researching. (A work in progress.)

Convict Notes
Isabella Thomson, Jane Thomson, and Margaret Reid for stealing four sovereigns, in gold coins, on the 14th July, Belfast, the property of Daniel Hughes. Daniel Hughes lost the money in a house in Margaret street; the prisoners held witness, and took the money from him; was not drunk, but only wee hearty; the girl witness went with was not taken: paid money for drink, and also for another purpose: got the Police the next morning, and went to the house, and had the three prisoners apprehended. All guilty; to be transported 7 years. Northern Whig, 25 Oct 1836
