Stephen Addison - Commander Michael Goodsire - Surgeon Superintendent [His wife was a passenger] 1842 - The Waterloo voyage of 1842 was wrecked on 28/8/1842. 189 people drowned, these being 143 convicts, 15 men of the 99th Regiment, together with 17 wives and children, the boatswain Mr. Chiverton, the sailmaker, the carpenter and 11 of the crew. Convicts were then received in Cape Town Prison from the wreck of the Waterloo, 2nd September 1842. They then completed their voyage to VDL per “Cape Packet” which arrived on 23/11/1842.

The convict indentures state that Christopher Reilley was 30 years old. He could read and write; religion Roman Catholic; status married with 2 sons and a native of Dublin. His occupation was a pawnbroker (their is no code for this occupation). Christopher was convicted of burglary on 2 January 1836 in Dublin and sentenced to life. He had no prior convictions. Physical attributes: Height 5 feet 3 1/2 inches; complexion dark and freckled; hair dark brown and eyes hazel. Transport number 17. Prisoner number 36-1822.
