Convict Notes

Andrew Reilly was placed at the bar for felony of lead from the factory of Mrs. Marianne Burke, at Milltown. The principal witness in this prosecution was a woman, named Bridget Koehe, whose brother was convicted at former commission for having been concerned this felony—she was voluntary witness, and has been for sometime past past in the Smithfield Penitentiary-it being supposed that were she to go at large the friends of the prisoner would make some attempt on her life. She gave her testimony very clearly, and underwent minute cross-examination by Mr. Dunn, during which she did not vary the slightest degree. Several other witnesses were examined, and Baron Pennefather having charged the Jury, they brought in a verdict of guilty. Sentenced to be transported for seven years. Saunders News-Letter, 20 June 1826.
