When Josias was transported he left behind a wife who he had married the previous year (1824) and a daughter living in Aldington, Kent. In 1828 Josias wife Ann, married bigamously Thomas Wire of Aldington stating that she was a widow at the time of her marriage. Two of Thomas' brothers Richard and William Wire had been transported the previous year for smuggling (See The Aldington Gang)
