April 29. Tuesday, Robert Rennie was brought to the bar, accused of a stealing a cow from an inclosure near Castlesemple, county of Renfrew. The prisoner having pleaded not Guilty, and his defences having been stated to the Court, the Crown Counsel proceeded to the examination of witnesses. It was proved in evidence, that the cow in question had been stolen by the pannel from a park near Castlesemple, on the night between the 27th and 28th September last. He afterwards brought her to Glasgow,, and sold her to a butcher for fifteen pounds. The, trial occupied the Court from ten o'clock till about three, when the jury were inclosed, and in a short time returned a verdict, by a plurality of voices, finding the pannel guilty, but unanimously recommended him to mercy. Sentence delayed till to-morrow. Caledonian Mercury, 30 April 1812. Glasgow, April 29. Robert Rennie, found guilty of stealing a cow, as mentioned in our last, was sentenced to be transported for life. Caledonian Mercury, 2 May1812.

Robert Rennie was convicted at Glasgow 29 April 1812. Life sentence. Transported to New South Wales per 'Earl Spencer'. Transferred to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per 'Emu'. VDL: 16 Apr 1817: Retail spirits without a licence. Fined. 2 May 1818: Refuse to pay for labour. To pay P. Rourke. Ticket of Leave granted. 13 Aug 1818: Employ government servants for his own advantage and making use of sawed wood, the property of the Crown. Acquitted. 5 May 1819: Disorderly and being away from his lodgings at night. Fined. Conditional Pardon no. 53 28 April 1829.
