Sheffield Independent Yorkshire, England 29 Mar 1828 JOHN RENTON was indicted for burglariously breaking and entering the dwelling house of Richard Raisin, at Bishopthorpe, and stealing therefrom one silver sugar basin, two pairs of silver tongs, and other articles of silver plate, of the value of £5 and upwards. Mr. Elsworth stated the case. The Jury found him Guilty, Death recorded. John Renton was 26 years old on arrival. Native Place: Yorkshire. Occupation: Painter and gilder. John was literate, married with 2 children, 5'11" tall, ruddy fair freckled complexion, sandy hair, hazel eyes, scar at top of left thumb, large scar on forepart right leg. Assigned to H. O'Brien, Goulburn Plains. 26/4/1837: TOL Yass - 29/11/1839: TOL cancelled for being absent from muster.
