Born in Yorkshire in 1822. John worked as a Bricklayer at VDL. John received his Ticket of Leave on 3rd July 1849 and Certificate of Freedom on 10th March 1862. John married Ellen Sullivan (Rachael Ellen Beckett) on 17th February 1864 at Hobart Town. After she passed away, he married Eliza Leigh on 3rd March 1873. John died on 27th April 1880 at Hobart, Tasmania.
