Convict Notes
… and Cornelius Reynolds, a dealer in Marine Stores, in Turk's-row, Chelsea, was charged with receiving the same. Tubb and Judson were committed to Newgate, and Ball to the House of Correction, to be detained to give evidence, and Reynolds was committed , in default in default of bail. London Packet, 21 Nov 1821. Joseph Tubbs and William Judson, for stealing six feet of pipe; and Cornelius Reynolds, for receiving the same, knowing it have been stolen ; Public Ledger, 13 Dec 1821.
He was the father of Barnaby Reynolds who served time in VDL and George James Reynolds who served time in NSW. All of their trials are on www.oldbaileyonline.org where the plight
As a soldier with first the 81st Regiment of Foot, enlisted Ireland, then the 3rd Regiment of Foot, Cornelius fought in Medeira Spain where he injured his left hand. He had a large scar on his back from a lance when he was discharged from Chelsea Hospital and received a pension as a man who had fought on foreign soil. In his description the injured hand is mentioned, with the ring finger on his left hand being 'çuffed'.
