Richard was the son of Abraham Lockwood and Mary Ann Hawksley. He was 16 years old when convicted of 'Obtaining goods by false pretences'. 7/8/1837: COF 15/10/1841: COF renewed in lieu of the 1837 COF. Richard then went to New Zealand. 7/12/1842: Married Margaret Rankine - however, no record of this marriage has been found. They had the following children: Richard Lockwood C1840 in New Zealand. Lincoln Elizabeth Lockwood born 18/9/1847, Port Lincoln, South Australia. Margaret Emily Lockwood born 27/6/1851 in Adelaide, SA. C1852: Richard married Faith Emily Moore Hewett in Melbourne, Victoria - again, no record found. They had 6 children: Richard C1854, Ballarat, Vic. Samuel C1856, Vic. Mary Ann C1860, Smythesdale, Vic. Edmund 16/8/1863, Warrow, Flinders, SA. Mary 18/1/1866, Mount Greenly, Flinders, SA. Rachael 29/1/1868, Warrow, Flinders, SA. 5/6/1894: Richard died, aged 81 years, and was buried at the West Terrace Cemetery, Adelaide, SA. 7/6/1894 The Express and Telegraph, Adelaide: DEATHS. LOCKWOOD.—On the 5th June, at Alfred-street, Parkside, Richard Lockwood, late of Port Lincoln, leaving a wife, three sons, three daughters, and 11 grandchildren. A colonist of 53 years;aged 81 years. His end was peace.
