Convict Notes
Richard TYE was convicted at the London Gaol Delivery on 5 April 1827 for stealing from the person (pick pocketing). Confessed to the offence and stated he had been intoxicated. Life sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Marmion' arriving there 1828. Aged 22 yrs; Protestant; had worked for a Mr. Hopping, a carrier/currier. Father & Mother at Ber....... Colony of VDL: Assigned to work service. 1832 at Mr. Bryant's - gross neglect of duty. 50 lashes. 1832 at Mr. Bryant's - absent without leave and abusinging his Master. 75 lashes. 1834 at Mr. Nicholas - absent without leave and refusing to leave Mr. Vincent's Inn. Knocking down a Constable. 50 lashes. 6 Jan 1841: Conditional Pardon approved, no. 2827 18 Nov 1845: Conditionl Pardon extended.
